Taiki Yanagida, a 28-year-old New Zealand-born athlete, lost his footing while riding Te Atatu Pash in a race at New Zealand’s Cambridge Jockey Club. Per reliable sources, Yanagida was run over by another horse after losing his helmet in the fall.
When he arrived at Waikato Hospital, he had drastic spinal cord and brain injuries. Once at the hospital, Yanagida was placed in an induced coma. On Tuesday, the jockey died as a result of his injuries.
Since his death, a lot of well-wishers and sympathizers have paid tributes and sent their support and condolences to his parents. Many are of the view that a great man like Taiki Yanagida shouldn’t have died in the way he died.
