Liberace net worth: Liberace was an American pianist and vocalist who had a net worth of $115 million. Liberace earned his net worth through his talent as a pianist, his many public appearances, on stage and TV. Born as Władziu Valentino Liberace (May 16, 1919 – February 4, 1987) in West Allis, Wisconsin, he was not only the flamboyant and rhinestone-studded pianist and entertainer, but also world’s highest-paid artist throughout the 1950s and the 1970s. A child prodigy at only seven years old, Liberace earned a scholarship to the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music in Milwaukee. The young talent made a living by playing in movie theaters and burlesque clubs. Next, he moved up to the concert circuit, where he started to mix pop and classical tunes while adding jokes, patter and elaborate showmanship. His ways to amuse audiences worked, and by 1949 he was playing for President Harry Truman at the White House. It was in 1952, when he began his own syndicated TV program, The Liberace Show. Liberace’s signature shiny candelabra on his piano was often combined with silly patter capes, satin costumes and sparkling jewelry. He went on innumerable tours, appeared in the 1955 movie Sincerely Yours, and eventually settled in Las Vegas, becoming one of the city’s biggest draws. Even though his heyday was in the 1950s, Liberace kept on being popular throughout the 1960s and 1970s, when he also opened the Liberace Museum in Las Vegas in 1979. He made headlines for a whole different reason in 1982, when a former chauffeur, Scott Thorson, sued him saying that they had been romantically involved and the great showman had promised to take care of him. The scandalous case revealed Liberace’s sexuality. As for his death, it raised public consciousness of AIDS for the first time as he died from pneumonia brought on by the taboo syndrome at the time.
