Williams, Stone and Noah Glass co-founded Obvious Corporation, which later spun off Twitter, Inc., with Jack as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Jack saw the startup through two rounds of funding by venture capitalists and he reportedly lost his position for leaving work early to enjoy other pursuits, such as yoga and fashion design.

As the service began to grow in popularity, Jack chose the improvement of uptime as a top priority, even over creating revenue, which, as of 2008, Twitter was not designed to earn. He described the commercial use of Twitter and its API as two things that could lead to paid features. His three principles as he says, are simplicity, constraint, and craftsmanship.

On October 16, 2008, Jack became the chairman of the board while Williams took over as CEO. Later on March 28, 2011, Jack returned to Twitter as Executive Chairman after Dick Costolo replaced Williams as CEO. Dick Costolo, on June 10, 2015, announced that he was resigning as CEO of Twitter, effective July 1, 2015. Upon Cotolo’s departure, Jack assumed the post of Interim CEO and was later named as the permanent CEO of Twitter on October 5, 2015.

Jack Dorsey Square

Along with co-founder Jim McKelvey, Jack developed a small business platform to accept debit and credit card payments on a mobile device called Square which was released in May 2010. The mobile device which is square-shaped attaches to iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, or Android devices via the headphone jack and as a mini card reader, it allows a person to swipe their card, choose an amount to transfer to the recipient and then sign their name for confirmation.

It is also a system for sending paperless receipts via text message or email and is available as a free app for iOS and Android OS. In December 2009, the company grew from 10 employees to over 100 by June 2011. Their office is on Market Street in San Francisco. In September 2012, Square Inc. was valued at US$3.2 billion by Business Insider magazine.

Jack is the CEO of Square, Inc and owns around 24.4% of the company.

Jack Dorsey Jewish

Jack on January 21, 2019, acknowledged to a Huffington Post that he had taken advice from a figure known both as Ali Alexander and Ali Akbar. Jack said he took advice on dealing with conservatives from a far-right figure who tweets extensively about Jews, complaining that they are “over-represented” and peddling “Jewish supremacy” and occasionally praising them.

The Wall Street had first reported that Jack had delayed the removal of provocateur and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones from Twitter on the advice of Akbar. Jack, however, said, “I don’t act on all of his comments. I listen, and I think that’s the most important thing. I was introduced to him by a friend, and you know, he’s got interesting points. I don’t obviously agree with most. But, I think the perspective is interesting.”

Jack Dorsey Trump

Jack, on 19th January 2019, in an interview with Huffington Post, responded to a hypothetical question on whether Donald Trump would be removed from Twitter if he asked each of his followers to murder one journalist.

In response, Jack said, “That would be a violent threat. We’d definitely… You know we’re in constant communication with all governments around the world. So we’d certainly talk about it.” And when pressed on whether Trump would be subject to a ban, Jack failed to commit to such a ban.
