Late musical icon Denny Laine had left Wings because McCartney hesitated to tour following the tragic murder of John Lennon.

About Denny Laine

Renowned musician Denny Laine, founder of the Moody Blues (1964-1966) and Wings (1971-1981), left a great mark on the music world.

Co-founding the Moody Blues in 1964, Laine’s vocals and guitar defined their shift from a blues cover band to pop icons, marked by the success of “Go Now.”

In 1971, a new chapter unfolded as Laine joined Paul and Linda McCartney to establish Wings.

His influence shaped timeless classics like “Live and Let Die,” “Jet,” and “Band on the Run,” with collaborations extending to co-writing hits like “Mull of Kintyre.”

Beyond his legendary bands, Laine’s musical journey spanned decades. Touring with World Classic Rockers (1997-2002) and leading the Denny Laine Band showcased his versatility.

In 2008, “The Blue Musician” marked his final solo album, a testament to his enduring artistry, complemented by ventures into musical theater with “Arctic Song.”

Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018, Laine’s passion persisted. Despite his January 2023 tour announcements and hints at new material, he passed away tragically on December 5, 2023, leaving a void at the age of 79.
