Iman Sami Maghdid was discovered dead late Sunday night in Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan’s capital.
Maghdid, also known as Mari, was assassinated by unknown gunmen on Erbil’s 100-meter street near Erbil International Airport early Monday, according to the Erbil police department.

Her assassination comes after hundreds of women have been killed in Iraqi Kurdistan in the last six weeks.
Due to a personal argument, a man set flame to his 21-year-old spouse in Sulaimani city on February 20 after assaulting her and spilling kerosene oil on her.

They announced on Wednesday that Iman’s murderer, her brother, had been apprehended by anti-crime police squads. Another person has been detained in Kirkuk for hiding the murderer in his apartment.

In a conversation with K24 Radio on March 8, her brother and assassin could recall the events surrounding his cold-blooded murder. He claimed that he fired 8-9 rounds at his sister.
