On May 26, 2022, Austin Shirley of Greenville was traveling at a high-speed north on Highway 25 when he crossed the southbound lane, went off the road to the left, and struck a tree. According to the troopers, he attempted to evade law enforcement by driving fast, reports Fox Carolina.
He was a young 28-year-old man from Greenville. Unfortunately, the severe crash caused his death on the spot.
While the authorities said they were investigating the incident and provided updates on it, his family and friends, on the other hand, had another side of the story.
As per the Facebook group Justice for Austin Shirley, he was being pursued by police on Honea Path. Lawfully, the police should have backed down rather than going out of their jurisdiction and chasing him at 100 mph, but they did not.
It was raining that night, and the family alleged they hit him four times before he lost control and collided with a tree, killing him from blunt force trauma. Another passenger, Eddie, survived the crash, but Austin never had that opportunity.
However, the sister claims that police are trying to claim that he hit them, but she says it did not happen. She said that the police broke many laws that night instead of going to check on her brothers.
They stood in the median and checked their truck first, then went screaming down to the car and yelled, “Come out with your hands up!” while the car was on fire. She added that many people saw the accident happen that night.
Although those people did not know the victims, their stories matched the same ones another survivor told.

Instead, they tried to cover it up by failing to mention that two persons were in the car or that they had hit her brother. Moreover, she added that the office was not a PIT maneuver that was certified.
