As per the News4Jax report, SDSU lineman Zavier Lenoard alongside Matt Araiza, and Nowlin “Pa’a” Ewaiko, faced charges of sexual assault on a minor.
With the ongoing investigation, San Diego Police have not made any arrests or made any suspects’ identities known to the general public.
According to the case filed in San Diego County Superior Court, the three players are accused of assaulting a then-17-year-old girl at an off-campus party at a house where Araiza had been residing.
The plaintiff (who recently turned 18) is identified in the matter as ‘Jane Doe” since she was a minor at the time.
According to the lawsuit, the youngster had been drinking with pals when they decided to attend the party on 17 October 2021, and she was “observably intoxicated upon arrival.”
The lawsuit states the minor girl got separated from her friends, and Araiza approached her and offered her a drink. She believes the beverage not only contained alcohol but other intoxicating substances.
The court complaint states, that Araiza pushed the girl onto the bed and she went in and out of consciousness while she was allegedly assaulted.
The girl “stumbled out of the room bloody and crying,” after an hour and a half. Her ear, belly button, and nostril piercings had all been pulled out.
In a statement to the AP, attorney Dan Gilleon said, “This was a horrific crime, the kind of which happens all too often.”
