Munawar Faruqui Family
There is no information about Munawar Faruqui’s family. He does, however, have three sisters, as stated in his age section.
Faruqui had worked hard to fulfill the Indian middle-class ideal as the son of a poor driver. In India, stand-up comedy is still in its infancy, and Faruqui was one of a tiny number of comics and even fewer Muslim comics. Faruqui sought to utilize humor to confront negative misconceptions about their culture, according to his buddy and fellow comic Saad Sheikh.
Faruqui had developed from a combination of circumstances that were unique to his faith. He was a child in the Gujarat city of Junagarh in 2002, during the anti-Muslim violence that occurred when Modi was the chief minister. Faruqui has quipped, “I was born and raised in Gujarat.” “I made it through Gujarat.” But, despite having encountered hostility, he did not succumb to it. Sheikh claims that his buddy circle remained varied and that he refused to consider himself as a target.
Faruqui’s mother committed suicide when he was 16, and his father relocated the family to Mumbai to start again. Faruqui had dropped out of school and was selling kitchenware as a store assistant. He taught himself Hindi and English, eventually reaching a level of fluency in both that allowed him to perform in both languages.
Muawar Faruqui Controversy
Munawar became embroiled in controversy in April 2002 after a YouTube video went viral in which he mocked Hindu idols Ram and Sita and the 2002 Godhra murder. He described the slaughter as a fake film directed by Amit Shah and produced by the RSS in the video. Ramesh Solanki, a Hindutva activist and former Shiv Sena member filed a complaint against him with the Mumbai police.
Thousands of people flocked to Twitter to criticize him, using the hashtag #Arrest MunawarFaruqui.
He was just arrested for a crime that he did not commit.
Faruqui was heckled by right-wing Hindus and forced to quit performing in a cafe in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, which is also governed by the BJP, on January 1 this year.
During the preparations for his play, members of a little-known Hindu Rakshak Sangathan organization in Indore said he insulted Hindu gods.
Faruqui was overheard “passing dirty words” about Hindu gods and the strong federal Home Minister Amit Shah, according to the son of a senior local BJP member. Still, he was unable to provide any evidence for his claims.
He was imprisoned for 37 days for jokes he never told.
