Miami Gardens Police Officer Jordy Yanes Martel is the ideal illustration of double standards and above the law out of control. Bad cops are permitted to escape prosecution by their police departments.
Officer Jordy Yanes Martel was dismissed and faced charges after a witness video from January 14, 2019, showed him dragging a 33-year-old Black woman named Safiya Satchell out of her SUV, kneeling on her neck, and twice using his Taser on her.
The allegations, which come after weeks of rallies against police abuse against black people, stem from an event that resembled the May arrest of George Floyd, a black man who died after a now-fired Minneapolis officer squatted for nearly nine minutes on his neck.

According to the Washington Post, Martel and another Miami Gardens police officer were working off-duty security when Martel approached Satchell’s black Mercedes SUV and informed her she needed to exit her vehicle and walk over to his patrol car so he could issue her the warning.
Satchell requested a ride because she had taken off her shoes. Martel then exacerbated the situation, telling Satchell she could either get out of the car or be arrested and handcuffed for “resisting without violence.”
According to court papers, Martel had no legal reasons to detain Satchell, but that didn’t stop him from dragging her out of her car and throwing her to the ground. He knelt on her neck and tased her twice in the stomach once she arrived.
