Missing Girl Found After Hand Gestures
A 16-year-old missing teenage girl was rescued Thursday after she learned on social media platform Tik Tok to signal for help. She was reported missing on 2 November.
She signaled the driver of another car using hand gestures which led the authorities to find her.
The driver on I-75 called 911 after noticing a girl in a silver Toyota in front of her making gestures for help like the signals in domestic violence situations.
He gave regular updates on the car’s location and said a man was driving it. The perpetrator was later identified as James Herbert Brick, a 61-year pervert of Cherokee, North Carolina.
The officers were able to stop James as he left the interstate on exit 41. The girl was reported missing Tuesday out of Asheville, North Carolina.
The teenager further told the authorities that James had taken her to Ohio to stay with his relatives. But when the relatives found she was underage and missing, he left and started traveling south.
She said she was waving at people and had no idea that she was putting out a distress signal. Although she needed assistance but was unnoticed many times, one person was finally able to help her.
Authorities also found a phone with sexual material involving an underage girl on James.
He is charged with first-degree unlawful imprisonment and possession of matter sex performance by a minor under age 18.
