According to his publicist Zach Farnum, Mickey Gilley, the pioneer of the “urban cowboy” aesthetic, died at 86 on Saturday in Branson, Missouri.
According to a statement released by Farnum, the country singer “died peacefully” surrounded by family and close friends. Reportedly, he had recently returned home after performing ten performances in April.
