Tetris Creator Henk Rogers Has A Loving Family With His Wife and Four Kids

Henk Rogers family is settled on the island of Hawaii. The Tetris creator shares four kids with his wife Akemi Rogers.

Apple TV+ latest movie Tetris has opened to favorable reviews from critics and viewers alike. The 2023 biographical drama follows the life of Dutch-American entrepreneur Henk Rogers and how he formed an alliance with Tetris designer Alexey Pajitnov.

The 2023 film consists of a cast including actors like Taron Egerton, Ayane, Nikita Efremov, Sofya Lebedeva, Mikhail Gorbachev, and Toby Jones. While Taron plays the protagonist Henk, actress Ayane appears as Akemi.

Rogers is a Dutch-American businessman and video game designer; he is best known as the founder of The Tetris Company. He played a key role in merging Tetris with the Game Boy. 

Henk is also the founder of Blue Planet Energy, previously called Bullet-Proof Software. The company works in the energy sector and is considered a leading provider of batteries for personal and industrial uses. 

Likewise, Rogers founded the International MoonBase Alliance. The company has constructed a Moon simulation called the Hawaii Space Exploration Analog and Simulation.

Henk Rogers Is Married To Akemi Rogers

Henk Rogers family consists of his wife Akemi Rogers and their four kids. Henk and Akemi have been married for over 46 years. 

Henk crossed paths with Akemi when they were both studying at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. After finishing her education, Akemi returned to Japan and Henk followed her. He eventually made up his mind to settle in Japan. 

The couple got married in 1977 and settled down in Japan at a home owned by Henk’s stepfather. 

Due to his work commitments, Henk often lived away from his wife and kids. When he was away, Akemi took care of the children.

The Dutch entrepreneur became so busy that he even missed the birth of his third child. As per reports, he was in Thailand when his partner delivered the kid.

Besides taking care of the family, Akemi also consistently supported her husband’s businesses. In fact, when Henk founded Bullet-Proof Software Inc, she often answered business calls to make it sound like an authentic Japanese company. 

 Akemi also supported her partner when he decided to move to the US to expand his business. As of 2023, the Rogers couple resides in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

Maya Rogers Is The CEO Of Tetris

Henk Rogers daughter Maya Rogers is the President and CEO of Tetris. Born in May 1978, she is 44 years old at the time of this writing.

Maya took the leadership of the company in 2014. Under her leadership, Tetris has expanded its market to other areas of business, including toys, lifestyle goods, apparel, and electronics.

Before getting appointed as the Tetris CEO, Maya was a partner at Blue Startups LLC. As of 2023, she continues to work for the company. Similarly, Rogers served as Director of Business Development at Blue Planet Software Inc from 2009 to 2013.

Previously, Maya also affiliated with companies like American Honda Motor Company, Sony Computer Entertainment America, and Tetris Online China in the past.  

According to her LinkedIn, Maya has a Business Administration degree from Pepperdine University. She also has an MBA from the Pepperdine Graziado Business School.

Talking about her personal life, Rogers has been happily married to a husband named Roger Akio Kiyomura. The CEO first mentioned her husband via a tweet in 2014. 

Together, Maya and her partner Roger also have two kids from their marriage. The duo has an adorable daughter named Hannie and a son named Ren. 

Hannie is the elder child of the couple, whereas their son Ren was born in 2020.

Maya’s husband Roger works as an instructor at Hawaii Pacific University. He is also a member of the US-Japan Council in Honolulu, Hawaii.

According to his Facebook bio, Kiyomura attended USC Rossier School of Education. He completed his Master’s at the California State University in Long Beach with a degree in Kinesiology.

Julie Rogers Is A Sailor And Business Executive

Henk’s second daughter Julie is the Executive Director of the non-profit organization called Akahiao. 

Julie was born in Japan where she spent the early years of her childhood. She moved to Hawaii at the age of nine with her family. 

Julie initially worked at a DNA sequencing center under the Whitehead Institute before getting involved with the field of Environmental Science. After learning about the extent of human pollution on the ocean floor, she started raising awareness about the protection of the ocean and marine life.

Further, Rogers also previously served as a board member of the Hawaii Nature Center for nine years. 

In 2020, Julie was listed as the Director of the Henk & Akemi Ohana Foundation. According to the Foundation’s website, Rogers received compensation of $46,368 for her services.

Additionally, Rogers is also a sailing enthusiast and an active member of the Polynesian Voyaging Society. She took part in her maiden voyage with the organization in 2012. Similarly, Julie is a member of the Worldwide Voyage society too.

Julie has been married to her husband Jeff Uchs for more than seven years. The couple tied the knot back on July 11, 2015. 

Jeff is a lifestyle and travel promoter who regularly takes adventurous trips to exotic locations, including the Himalayan range in Asia. He also works at Akahiao Nature Institute as the Director of Outdoor Programming. 

From their relationship, Rogers and Uchs have a three-year-old son named Sebastian Kai Uchs. The couple welcomed their only child on February 24, 2021.

Leonard Rogers Is CEO At R Bridge LLC

Leonard, also known as Leo Rogers, is one of the two sons of Henk and Akemi Rogers. 

In 2017, Rogers also founded a project management business called R Bridge. The company is focused on connecting talented filmmakers with publishers and operates on three basic principles: “Sincerity, Sustainability, and Aloha.” 

As of 2023, Leo serves as the CEO of the company. Similarly, is also a Managing Partner at The BoxJelly Coworking and the Chief Communications Officer at the robotic company Everblue Technologies.

He is a graduate of the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science. 

After completing his education, he worked as a kayak tour guide at Kailua Sailboards and Kayaks for a year in 2011. The following year, he joined Kyoya Corporation to work as a Japanese Guest Service Supervisor. 

Leo eventually joined his father’s company Blue Planet Software in 2013. He has been working there as a Project Coordinator for over nine years.

In addition to a successful career, Rogers is equally fortunate in his love life. He is happily married to a woman named Clara Rogers. 

Clara is originally from Yokohama, Japan, but currently lives in Honolulu, Hawaii. The couple has been married for seven years since 2016.

From their marriage, the pair also has a son but his name remains undisclosed.

Michael Rogers Works For Shifted Energy

Michael is a Hawaii-educated business manager who works as a program manager at Shifted Energy. He initially attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa from 2000 to 2004. 

Likewise, Rogers also has a degree in Gemology from the Asian Institute of Gemological Sciences and a “Tropical Plants and Soil Sciences” degree from UH at Manoa.

Before joining Shifted Energy, Michael was involved in his father’s charity Blue Planet Alliance. Earlier, he worked as the Chief Agricultural Officer of Smart Yields in Honolulu.

Michael is a divorced man, according to his Facebook bio. As of 2023, his relationship status is reported to be single.

From his former marriage, Rogers went on to become the father of two children: a son and a daughter.
