Sarah Benford was born to her parents Vicki and her dad, who is not mentioned. Benford had been a troubled child. Her mum had hard times with her.

At the age of eight, she started skipping school in reception and absconding from home. At the age of 14, she had been in three different childrens’ homes.

She used drugs and often went missing. She was reported missing on March 31st, 2000, and was found on April 2. The following day she went missing again.

On 6 April, she went to see her mum in an amusement arcade in Kettering town center, where she worked.

Sarah Benford was last time seen by her mother on April 6, 2000. Later on that day, she called her mum high on drugs. Her mum reported policing this.

But the police refused to collect her and bring them to the police station to babysit her. After this, polices were in search of the teen. They failed to find her body.

However, there were more than 5000 lines of inquiry, more than 600 statements, almost 1000 reports, and eight arrests over 20 years in search of Benford.
