Royal Machine band members include Billy & Dave (guitars), Mark & Donovan (vocals), Chris (Bass) & Josh (drums). Since 2014, the lineup hasn’t changed.

Billy Morrison

Billy Morrison is 54 years old. He was born in February 1969 in the UK. 

He has also played with Billy Idol, Circus Diablo and The Cult. He plays guitars for the Royal Machines.

Mark McGrath

American singer Mark Mcgrath was born in 1968. 

He had co-founded one of the most popular rock bands Sugar Ray with guitarist Rodney Sheppard and sold millions of chart-topping multiplatinum records. He is the lead vocalist for the band Royal Machines.

Dave Navarro

Born in 1967, Dave Navarro is an American guitarist. He has played with Red Hot Chili Peppers and is also a member of the rock band Jane’s Addiction.

As a member of the all-star band Royal Machines, Navarro plays the lead guitar.

Chris Chaney

Now aged 52, Chris Chaney has had a successful career as a bass player and session musician. 

He is particularly known for his former association with the mega rock band Jane’s Addiction. As a professional bassist, he has toured with multiple artists like Adam Lambert, Shakira, James Blunt, Ozzy Osbourne and many others. He has also contributed and composed for movie soundtracks and scores.

Chris Chaney acts as the bassist for the Royal Machines.

Donovan Leitch Jr.

Born in 1967, Donovan Leitch Jr. is the son of Scottish musician Donovan Leitch. 

Donovan has been associated with the Royal Machines from their earlier days as Camp Freddy. Besides being known as a passionate vocalist, he is a professional actor too and has acted in over a dozen movies and TV Shows including Grey’s Anatomy. He was also the founding member of the band Nancy Boy.

Josh Freese

50 years old Josh Freese is a celebrated American session drummer. He has performed for over 400 records and played with multiple bands in his career.

He is also a member of the punk rock band Vandals and previously has played drums for Guns N’ Roses, A Perfect Circle, Nine Inch Nails and others. Josh Plays drums for the Royal Machines.

Royal Machines is a cover band with no original album so far. However, some of the songs they cover are from the bands they were or are part of.

Billy Morrison has said in an interview that what connected the members was their passion for music. After their new lineup and formation as Royal Machines, they have performed covers at various stages. Some of the songs they often cover are:

When asked about a possible album from Camp Freddy, Navarro had said in an interview that, they had considered the possibility many times, but they enjoyed being a live band, and having fun on the stage was much more important to them – to be spontaneous was what they enjoyed.

Be it Camp Freddy or Royal Machines, the band is complete in itself in all possible ways, even without an original album. We must know that even some of the most popular bands started by doing cover songs in their first recorded albums too.

Most of their show starts with the six members performing various cover gigs, and as the event evolves the concertgoers can expect world-class rockstars performing alongside the band. The band has performed at Los Angeles Roxy Theatre, Rock the Queen, 2022 Long Beach Grand Prix, Petco Park Stadium, Los Angeles El Rey Theater and many other stages throughout the US.

Royal Machines’ official merchandise is not available. Since they have been celebrating legendary bands and their songs, they are found promoting their merch instead.

Royal Machines band members are long-time friends, and it seems they have secret access to the iconic rock stars from the 80s and 90s. Camp Freddy had started when Billy and Dave performed a simple gig; now the self-described as “Rock’s Greatest All-Star Band” perform in and out of Los Angeles.

They cover the classics as well as songs from their own bands or the bands they were once with. Billy has said in an interview that, the only thing that formed and has kept the Royal Machines going on is their love for the music they grew up listening to and the artists they looked up to. They share the same love with their musical assemblage.

For Mark McGrath, the lead vocalist of the band, the shared musical experience and the chance to meet people is what keeps him motivated. The band members are super busy with their own professional careers as musicians, but they find time to perform together as Royal Machines.

We can say that the All-Star Royal Machines are a rock and roll cover band with hyper-talented musicians who makes it possible to listen to and enjoy the rock classics with performances by the artists who originally wrote and recorded the songs.
