Originally from Dallas, Texas, Ron Corning (born June 23, 1971) is an American television presenter who works for the ABC station WFAA. Midday is a one-hour noon broadcast that he hosts alone. He co-anchors the station’s morning newscast, Daybreak, and the station’s noon newscast, Midday. Corning was up in Calais, Maine, and received his bachelor’s degree from Wheaton College in Massachusetts. The first two years of his broadcasting career were spent as general assignment reporter for WDTV, a CBS affiliate in Bridgeport, West Virginia, followed by stints as weekend anchor and reporter for WBOY, an NBC affiliate in Clarksburg, West Virginia, and WDTV’s main competitor, WBOY. Following that, he worked for a short period of time at WTOV in Steubenville, Ohio, before taking his first big market position at KTVI, a Fox station in St. Louis, Missouri, where he worked for a year and a half. From there, he moved on to work for KCPQ, a Fox affiliate in the Seattle, Washington region. During his time as host and news anchor of The Daily Buzz, an American morning television programme broadcast to affiliates of UPN and The WB (now combined as The CW) across the United States, Corning made his national television debut. In the years 2004 to 2006, Corning co-anchored the ABC News programmes World News Now and ABC World News This Morning.

Corning was voted one of the ‘Most Beautiful People’ by People Magazine in 2006, while working for ABC News. In the same year, MSN named him one of the “Best Anchors” in the country. Corning began working with Jodi Applegate as co-anchor of Good Day New York on August 28, 2006, at the flagship FOX owned station WNYW in New York City. When he was on vacation in April 2008, his contract was not extended so that he could make way for Fox News Channel reporter Greg Kelly, the son of New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly. Applegate was also freed from custody on September 17, 2008, according to the station. When the two were reunited in November 2009, they were working as an evening anchor team for Cablevision’s News 12 Long Island. Applegate resigned from his position as anchor of News 12 in October 2010. Corning took over for Chris Flanagan as co-host of WFAA’s Daybreak programme in April 2011.
