Diana Espinoza Aguilar is widely known as the wife of Rafael Caro Quintero.
Espinoza Aguilar, a native of Mexico was born on July 17, 1970, in Matachi, Chihuahua, Mexico.
Espinoza Aguilar was arrested in 2008 with her then-partner, accused of drug trafficking, while Caro Quintero was serving a 40-year sentence, accused of the murder of former DEA agent Enrique Camarena, according to reports.
Diana and Caro Quintero met through the host of a grupera music program after he saw her on television in some images related to the beauty contest in the Puente Grande prison, Jalisco in October 2010. At 39 years old, she had been the winner of her de ella, hence the Narco de Narcos sought a way to meet her.
In an August 2016 interview, Diana revealed to the journalist Anabel Hernández that she and Quintero met thanks to the host of a grupera music program that brought bands to men’s and women’s prisons.
“She was the one who told us, they can talk if it’s just the two of them, why don’t they talk? At that time I was a beauty queen from there in prison and then it was he who saw me… he asked this girl who was a television host for me, she introduced us and that’s how this relationship began to grow, this feeling. He was alone, I was the same, ”she recounted.
Diana Espinoza was released from prison in 2011, and following the release of Rafael Caro Quintero in 2013, they started a family.
On May 11, 2016, the US government ordered the freezing of any assets that Diana has in the country.

Caro Quintero was freed from jail on August 9, 2013, after a state court concluded that he had been tried improperly. However, amidst pressure from the United States government to re-arrest him, a Mexican federal court issued an arrest warrant against Caro Quintero on August 14.
Quintero was wanted for his involvement in drug trafficking as well as the 1985 murders. He lost his final appeal to avoid extradition to the United States on March 27, 2021.
