Originally from New York, David Corn (born February 20, 1959) is an American political journalist and author who serves as the head of the Mother Jones Washington office. He has worked as the Washington editor for The Nation magazine and has been frequently on FOX News, MSNBC, National Public Radio, and BloggingHeads.tv, often in opposition to James Pinkerton or other media figures, among other things. The “47 percent storey,” which was a video of Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s meeting with donors during the 2012 presidential campaign, earned him the 2012 George Polk Award in journalism in the category of political reporting in February 2013.

He received the award for his video and reporting of the “47 percent storey” in February 2013. Corn’s work as an author spans both nonfiction and fiction, with the majority of his work dealing with government and politics. Corn has also worked as a book critic for several publications. During one instance, he was critical of his own group for publishing a translation of a controversial French book on Osama bin Laden and the September 11th attacks, which was published by Nation Books. According to Jean-Charles Brisard and Guillaume Dasquié’s book Forbidden Truth: US-Taliban Secret Oil Diplomacy and the Failed Hunt for Bin Laden, the assaults were the consequence of a breakdown in negotiations between the Taliban and the United States to build an oil pipeline through Afghanistan. “Contrived conspiracy ideas” were published, Corn claimed, making it more difficult to uncover real state wrongdoing than it already was.
