Malacaang confirmed Carlos’ appointment on Wednesday. This week, the PNP’s current 4th in command will formally replace outgoing General Guillermo Eleazar during the Change of Command Ceremony.
Eleazar had been the PNP head for six months, starting in May and ending this month, when he reached his statutory retirement age of 56. Carlos is the 27th chief of the Philippine National Police and the seventh under President Rodrigo Duterte.
