He has previously been published on other sports sites including Kissing Suzy Kolber, SBNation, Football Savages, as well as his own site, StrongTakes.com. PFT Commenter is currently the co-host of the Barstool Sports podcast, Pardon My Take.

PFT Commenter Deadspin

Absolutely nothing happened next. I just think it’s funnier if people didn’t know my real identity but the internet can’t have nice things. It’s funny that Deadspin was mad about the Washington Post article granting me anonymity but Deadspin has essentially granted me anonymity for the last 4 years too. All that changed when an article came out that was moderately positive, so they decided now would be the time to put it out there.

PS Oh shit Eric just died in an RV accident while he was writing this blog. This is his identical twin brother taking over- my name is actually PFT Commenter and I will be taking over his blogging and podcasting duties now that he’s dead. With his last dying breath Eric said how much he loved you guys and how much it meant to him that you’ve gone along with the joke even though his name has been out there and you’ve probably already seen his eyes when YP forgot to blur them out. That meant a lot to him and he wanted you all to know that. #RIPEric #Long Live PFT Commenter.

Every so often, some publication or other—often a fancy one—will run a fawning profile of PFT Commenter, the sports satirist who works for Barstool Sports and co-created the wildly popular comedy podcast Pardon My Take. These profiles are all more or less the same.

In 2016, there was this one from GQ (“Meet PFT Commenter and Big Cat, Two of the Internet-Famous Bros Behind Barstool Sports”); last year, Rolling Stone (“How Did PFT Commenter Become the Unintentional President of the New School in Sports Media?”) and Awful Announcing (“How Pardon My Take took over sports podcasting”) got in on the action; and just yesterday, the Washington Post boldly stepped in the footprints of those who came before them with “PFT Commenter rose from an internet ‘cesspool’ to podcasting glory. And no one knows who he is.”

The Post story reads as if you’d run its predecessors through an algorithm, keeping all the commonalities about how PFT Commenter is such a disruptor in the sports media space and how he has such a devoted fanbase and how he’s so clever—he calls Danny Woodhead “gritty”!—and how boy oh boy is he popular. Another requirement is being completely taken by the claim that precious few people know who PFT Commenter is, despite the fact that anyone with an internet connection and 30 seconds can easily find out his name’s Eric Sollenberger.

These knowing profiles have another commonality too, which that is that they all fail to understand PFT Commenter’s actual value—the very essence of why he matters so much to Barstool Sports—and thus their own subject. First, PFT Commenter offers a line of defense against detractors, an easy figure to point to while saying, “Barstool can’t be that bad. They have PFT Commenter, and everyone loves him!” (This defense appears to be working, thanks in part to profiles like the Post’s, which barely grazes over what Barstool is all about as it trips over itself to rewrite the company’s PR materials.)

PFT Commenter Books

PFT Commenter has questions, and he’s on a mission for answers. Where did Ryan Fitzpatrick go to college? Is Joe Flacco elite? How best to protect the shield? Mysteries like these can really weigh on a man, so it’s no wonder the all-time thumbs-up record holder from the Pro Football Talk comments section decided to search for the truth by writing an e-book.

The result, Goodell vs. Obama: The Battle for the Future of the NFL, imagines a dystopian future in which Jerry Jones’s penis explodes, causing President Obama to seize control of the Dallas Cowboys. Obama is determined to turn the Cowboys into a Kenyan soccer franchise, but Roger Goodell has other ideas. A boxing match is arranged to settle the dispute.

Along the way, Goodell seeks counsel from a rich cast of characters. When he’s not berating the Acela’s beverage lady for her subpar coffee, Sports Illustrated’s Peter King provides our quixotic protagonist with “the best nuggets in the business.” Mike Ditka recalls Mickey Goldmill as the Ginger Hammer’s personal trainer. The potty-mouthed Richie Incognito makes for a perfect sparring partner. Meanwhile, Obama is trained by — who else? — Michael Vick.

In many ways, Goodell vs. Obama is a product of today’s neutered, comically self-serious NFL media climate. Pretty much everyone involved in professional football is ripe for lampooning, and PFT Commenter doesn’t pull any punches. To read him on Jim Irsay’s “tremendous story of redemption” or Danny Woodhead’s innate grittiness is to encounter the ghosts of pregame shows past. And it’s terrifying.

Considering the author’s tell-it-like-it-is attitude, Goodell vs. Obama’s lax approach to spelling, grammar, and punctuation feels right. Why let a comma get in the way of no-holds-barred honesty? Fortunately, readers understand this. On Amazon, the book boasts a 100 percent five-star approval rating, making PFT Commenter the literary equivalent of the 1972 Dolphins. Most scribes would gloat about such a designation, but PFT Commenter acts like he’s been there before … except when it comes to sales.

If the truth sets you free, then reading Goodell vs. Obama will be a genuinely liberating experience. The takes are so hot they come with a warning label, and they burn plenty of bridges. This is a shame, because despite Goodell’s positive characterization, the NFL would clearly be better off with PFT Commenter in charge. Until that happens, though, our national pastime will continue to become “our national asstime.” And that really makes you think.

PFT Commenter Style

His writing style is characterized by “didactic misspelling, erratic punctuation, barely veiled racism, not-quite-latent homophobia, conspiratorial anxiety, and arrogant disdain for critical thought” and the character is “dumb on purpose”,earning a comparison to the Stephen Colbert character on The Colbert Report with his ability to “undermine the league’s resident apologists and party-liners.”

PFT Commenter often overpraises white players for their blue-collar attitudes, criticizes black players for being selfish and overrated, and “eagerly takes the truth-y NFL party line on every possible issue”.In response to criticisms of his poor spelling, he wrote, “Im on record that I dont care about spelling, I care about TELLING.”

PFT Commenter No Sunglasses

Despite his popularity, PFT Commenter has not publicly revealed his identity. He told Awful Announcing in 2017 that he wore sunglasses on camera to avoid identification and the staff at Barstool Sports referred to him as “PFT”, as only half knew his real name. He said that his identity had become an “open secret” and that it would be found out eventually. In May 2018, an article by Deadspin revealed that PFT Commenter was played by Eric Sollenberger.

PFT Commenter Net worth / Salary

His total net worth is totally under review which means that it is not disclosed, concerning his salary, there is no doubt that he is earning good pay from his career even though it is not updated. More information will be updated soon regarding any changes in salary and net worth.
