Who Is New Peloton CEO Barry McCarthy? Wikipedia
Barry McCarthy, aged 69, is now the CEO of Peloton, replacing John Foley.
According to his LinkedIn profile, he acquired his MBA degree in Finance from The Wharton School in 1980. Aside from his involvement in the board membership of Spotify, he also acts as the Board Member of Insta Cart. He has been serving on the boards since Jan 2021 and has been in this post for over a year.
Beginning his career at Credit Suisse First Boston in the 1980s, Barry later headed to Music Choice, a music company, and took up his first CFO role there. Afterward, he worked at Netflix and executed a traditional IPO under Hastings.
In 2014, he joined Spotify as a member of its board and after a year, he moved to the CFO and Global Head of Free Business role.
Characterwise, Barry is not usually the person to have any attention cast on him and maintains a low profile. Actually, it is his decision to take Spotify into a direct listing offering without the traditional assistance from investment banks as per Vox.
Acknowledged as the architect of the unorthodox and some controversial public offering, McCarthy is not someone who wants or expects him to be remembered in history.
