According to a witness, hundreds of people were at a vigil for Demetrise Thomas, 27, who was shot and killed nearby early Monday morning when someone began shooting into the gathering.
St. Louis police were dispatched to the 500 block of 20th Street around 8:45 p.m. to report a shooting. Officers discovered four persons with gunshot wounds when they arrived.
The four victims were all rushed to the hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, the injuries claimed the life of one of the victims. Cedric Owens is his name.

A quadruple shooting occurred in downtown St. Louis on Monday night, and police are investigating.
The incident took place in the Downtown West district, near 20th and St. Charles Streets.
