Jackson was first elected Governor in 2013 and re-elected in 2017 for his second and final term. He is a member of the Jubilee Alliance Party.
Jackson was first elected in 2013 and had to fight hard against billionaire businessman Zedekiah Kiprop alias Buzeki to win re-election in the August 8, 2017, general election on Jubilee Party ticket. He has an equal share of credit and criticism for driving hawkers out of Eldoret CBD.
