Notre Dame Offensive Coordinator Salary And Coaching Staff 2023

Notre Dame football coaching unit has been led by head coach Marcus Freeman since 2021. He has been in charge of the Fighting Irish after replacing Brian Kelly.

The former NFL linebacker was drafted by the Chicago Bears in 2009 in the fifth round. Although he was drafted and was later signed by the Buffalo Bills and then the Houston Texans, he never played a single NFL game. He had always been a member of the offseason and/or practice squad only.

His playing career was cut short due to an enlarged heart condition and eventually retired in 2010. Without wasting much time, he went on to serve as a Graduate Assistant for Ohio State University, his alma mater.

Marcus Freeman’s coaching timeline is as follows:

• Kent State University – Linebackers coach (2011-2012)
• Purdue University – Linebackers coach (2013-2015)
• Purdue University – Co-defensive coordinator and Linebackers coach (2016)
• University of Cincinnati – Defensive coordinator and Linebackers coach (2017-2020)
• University of Notre Dame – Defensive coordinator and Linebackers coach (2021)

Marcus Freeman is only 37 and is one of the youngest head coaches in college football. He is a first-timer when it comes to becoming a head coach. Although he now has experienced a complete season as head coach in 2022, he still has a lot to learn and accomplish.

Head coaches usually get paid a lot in college football as well. For instance, Nick Saban is getting paid $11.7 million in salaries in 2023 as he is one of the most experienced coaches with over four decades of experience.

Notre Dame coaching salaries for Marcus Freeman are estimated to exceed $3 million annually since former coach Brian Kelly was paid over $3 million in 2020.

Although his accurate salary details have not been made public, we can estimate his payments based on what head coach Kelly was paid back in 2020.

Freeman had a good first season as the head coach ending the year with a 9-4 record in the regular season. After a slow start losing two straight games, they picked up their pace and went on to win the 2022 Taxslayer Gator Bowl.

Notre Dame head football coach Marcus Freeman has made a great start to 2023. They have won their first two games of the season comprehensively.

His side have started the 2023 season with some dominant display and confidence. They beat the Navy Midshipmen in their season opener on August 26 by a 42-3 scoreline. They went on to beat the Tennessee State Tigers on September 2 with a 56-3 scoreline.

Notre Dame defensive coordinators are:

• Al Golden (2022-present)
• Marcus Freeman (2021)
• Clark Lea (2018-2020)
• Mike Elko (2017)
• Brian VanGorder (2014-2016).

In its history, the Fighting Irish has seen a lot of changes in the defensive coordinator position. Many experienced coaches have been part of the prestigious institution’s football program.

All the coaches in the position of defensive coordinator have performed well and their contributions to the team have been immense. With head coaches also changing frequently, they tend to take their DC along with them wherever they move.

Al Golden

The experienced coach who started his career as a player for the New England Patriots in 1992 ventured into coaching in 1993. He was first hired by the Red Bank Catholic High School as an offensive coordinator.

After Freeman was appointed as head coach, Golden was one of his first appointments on the coaching staff roster. Golden has signed a three-year deal with Notre Dame. He came in with a lot of experience in college football as well as the NFL.

The ongoing 2023 season is Golden’s second full season with the team after a successful first season. Golden also coaches the linebackers in addition to filling the DC position.

Notre Dame assistant coaches are Rob Delaney (offensive assistant) and Nick Sebastian (defensive assistant) in addition to four Graduate Assistants.

The four Graduate Assistants for the Fighting Irish are:

• Kurt Rawlings (Offense)
• Michael Bearden (Offense)
• Max Bullough (Defense)
• Ashton Derico (Defense)

The Notre Dame football team has seen quite a reshuffle to their coaching roster for 2023. Several coaches have departed to join other teams or have retired following the 2022 season.

Former player Max Bullough served as GA for Alabama from 2020-2022 and replaced the departing James Laurinaitis in the defensive department. Brian Mason and Tommy Rees also departed for a career elsewhere, whereas Harry Hiestand retired.

Marty Biagi replaced Brian Mason who joined the Indianapolis Colts for the very same role. Biagi left the Ole Miss to become the new special teams coordinator in 2023. Similarly, Guidugli who was previously employed by the Cincinnati Bearcats replaced Tommy Rees as the quarterbacks coach.

Rudolph is another addition to the coaching staff who is taking the position of offensive line coach replacing the now-retired Hiestand.

The coaching team in 2023 looks much better than previous years with most of the staff returning to their positions and also the required changes and shuffles being made. McCullough and Stuckey have been impressive in the past and they will improve their departments more this year.

The coaching personnel must be happy with their players for such a bright start to the season. They have been helpful for the team’s comprehensive wins in both games. They will be key for the Fighting Irish 2023 season and a possible championship.

Notre Dame will look to continue their red-hot form against the NC State Wolfpack on September 9 and record their third consecutive victory this season.
