Girlfriend
Back in 2013, the presenter was accused of beating his then lover Jane Mwai. The matter caused plenty of heat but was soon swept under the carpet. Now, apparently, he has done it again.
Jane has now come out to accuse Nick of beating her again on October 29. Nick and Jane had broken up but hooked up again at a festival over the weekend. Unfortunately, that turned out to be a terrible idea.
Jane claims that Nick’s violent tendencies were ever-present in the three years which they were dating.
Surprisingly, Nick didn’t deny the allegations. He didn’t pull an ‘It wasn’t me’ defense. He admitted to hitting Jane but claimed that she was using the police to blackmail him to part with Kes.2 Million.

Interview
Interviewer: Where did you grow up?
Nick Odhiambo: My dad was a diplomat so I grew up in a lot of places including India and Europe. But I spent most of my childhood in Nairobi.
Interviewer: How would you describe your childhood?
Nick Odhiambo: I was a very lucky child. I had everything you could possibly imagine. I don’t have those sob stories of hatukuwa tunakula. I went to a nice school, I have driven nice cars, dressed well etc
Interviewer: Did you have a nickname growing up?
Nick Odhiambo: I was Niko. When I started playing basketball and I became good at it my nickname changed with time. When I shaved all my hair, it became Jordan (after Michael Jordan).
Interviewer: What happened to your basketball career?
Nick Odhiambo: I got a proper job (laughs). You know basketball doesn’t pay in Kenya but I hope that changes in the future.
Interviewer: You have a thing for the ladies, or is it the other way round?
Nick Odhiambo: No, you see when you have a nice voice and you’re dark tall and handsome it just works for you. Hi ladies!
Interviewer: How often do girls hit on you?
Nick Odhiambo: It happens regularly but sometimes I think when you are a prominent person, it’s a bit intimidating for the ladies.
Interviewer: I understand that you’re a parent
Nick Odhiambo: Yes I have a daughter. Holding her in my arms is the best feeling. I don’t understand how a person can abandon their children. Single men out there who have left their kids, you’re doing wrong
Interviewer: I you weren’t a radio presenter what would you be?
Nick Odhiambo: I hadn’t thought about that. Maybe would be a doctor, or a pastor. You know people love miracles. Bwana amesema ya kwamba, unipe pesa zako zote na njia zako zitafunguka (does pastor’s voice impression).
Interviewer: You have been at Radio Maisha for six months, how would you term your collaboration with Alex Mwakideu?
Nick Odhiambo: Mwakideu is like that best friend you just hang out with and have a blast and then you just realise that four hours are over and then four weeks are over and its payday.
And you’re like wow! We get paid to do this!
Interviewer: Before landing a radio gig, did you do any odd jobs?
Nick Odhiambo: I worked at a place called Kencall as a telemarketer. My first salary was Sh800, with a first Sh400 instalment and the rest paid two weeks later. I bought airtime worth Sh250, soda madiaba, mandazi and the money was finished.
Interviewer: As we have noted recently, you have reinvented yourself. What inspired the move?
Nick Odhiambo: After doing English radio for about ten years I was getting tired of it.
Interviewer: Would you ever consider shaving your dreadlocks?
Nick Odhiambo: I will shave them at the end of this month for a worthy cause, breast cancer. All the information is coming soon so follow me on social media.
Interviewer: What do you value most in your life?
Nick Odhiambo: Without my voice I don’t know what I would be doing. I’d be cutting grass for a living.
Interviewer: What’s your advice to aspiring radio presenters?
Nick Odhiambo: If you have a dream, never give up. Just persist until something happens.
Interviewer: In the 10 years you have been on radio, what has changed?
Nick Odhiambo: The way radio is run and how people present has changed. Back then it was quite rigid. Also, the income of radio presenters has improved.
Interviewer: Do you have aby regrets in life?
Nick Odhiambo: No. If you live in the moment of regret you will never move on.
