Morne Harmse Samurai Killer has been out on parole now, as of 3rd March 2022. He was convicted of one account of murder and three attempts to murder.
Teens being convicted of murder has not been new news anymore. Teenage is such an age where children don’t care and think much about their future and career.
They tend to commit crimes out of silly reasons. Morne Harmse killed 16 years old Jacques Pretorius who was his schoolmate and attempted killing three other people in 2008.

A South-African, Morne Harmse Samurai killer has been out of jail on parole. He was born in 1989 and got into prison in 2008, after serving 14 years of his sentence he has been out.
He has been said to have a mental condition, but Correctional Services has said he is not a danger to society. As per Nxumalo, he was released under strict parole conditions on 3 March 2022.
The parole condition has been kept confidential by the Correctional Services, they have added, he would be under the monitor, and if found to be not complying with the condition of his placement, the department can revoke his parole.

Singabakho Nxumalo, the spokesperson of the Correctional services department said Morne Harmse’s sentence was expected to expire on 9 March 2029. As per him, Harmse completed his legislated minimum detention period on 9 June 2019.
Harmse used Katana – a Japanese “Samurai” sword to kill then 16 years old Jacques Pretorius. He was his schoolmate from Nic Diederichs Technical High School pupil, in August 2008.
He was found guilty of a charge of murder and three charges of attempted murder. He was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment in 2009. He was 18 years old when he committed the crime.

Morne Harmse was born to his parents Machiel and Liza. His parents were devasted by the crime he committed. His mother, Liza then said, her son was not a hardened criminal.
She added, “He was always a very loving boy. There are still people telling us how good our son is, how he helped other people.” Usually for a parent to be in such a situation could be very difficult.
Harmse’s state of mind and his mental status were evaluated then also, which could have been turned out to be normal. Currently, he was said to have been diagnosed with a serious psychiatric condition.
