Michael Benneman Sams Net Worth, Income, Salary, Earnings, Biography

Michael Sams (born 11 August 1941) is an English rapist, kidnapper, extortionist, and killer who abducted Julie Dart and Stephanie Slater on 9 July 1991 and 22 January 1992, respectively.

He was sentenced to life in jail in July 1993 for the murder of Julie Dart, an 18-year-old Leeds resident, and the kidnapping of Slater. Sams first denied killing Dart, but subsequently admitted it. Sams had disputed the accusations in court, but three days after he was convicted guilty, he confessed to police in jail. Since his incarceration, Sams has continued to transgress, assaulting a female probation officer with a metal spike.

For this conduct, he was given an eight-year extension to his sentence. When his prosthetic limb was lost while being transferred from one jail to another, he was granted £4,000 in damages. He also tried to sue Slater for defamation of character, alleging that he never raped her. He’s also filed a legal suit because he believes his jail bed is too harsh. In April 2007, Sams made headlines once again when he stated in a letter to Inside Time that “OAPs in jail are much better off than those in the society.” Before getting the illness that led him to lose his leg, Sams was a talented middle distance runner.

He was also a successful businessman, owning and operating a heating company until an illness forced him to have his leg amputated in 1975. After that, Sams became involved with minor criminals and was first imprisoned in 1976 for falsifying a vehicle tax disc. He is presently imprisoned at Whitemoor Prison in Cambridgeshire as of 2013. Using Ground Penetrating Radar, police discovered £150,000 of the £175,000 ransom paid for Slater’s release hidden in a field. The rest of the £25,000
