Lindsey Caroline Vonn is a former World Cup alpine ski racer for the United States Ski Team. Vonn won four World Cup overall championships, second only to Annemarie Moser-Pröll among female skiers, with three consecutive titles in 2008, 2009, and 2010, plus another in 2012. Vonn won the first gold medal for an American woman in downhill skiing at the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Vonn also set a World Cup season record with eight downhill titles, five super-G titles, and three consecutive combined titles. In 2016, Vonn won her 20th World Cup crystal globe title, breaking the record held by Ingemar Stenmark of Sweden, who won 19 globes from 1975 to 1984. Vonn has the third highest super ranking of any male or female skier.
Vonn is one of only six women in history to have won World Cup races in all five alpine skiing disciplines: downhill, super-G, giant slalom, slalom, and super combined. Vonn’s 82 World Cup victories were a women’s record until January 2023, when Mikaela Shiffrin broke it.
