Kiriko Takemura (, Takemura Kiriko, born January 29, 1993), better known by her stage as Kyary Pamyu Pamyu (, Kyar Pamyu Pamyu), is a Japanese model and singer who is most known for her song “Kyary Pamyu Pamyu.” Her public persona is linked with Japan’s kawaisa and decora cultures, which are concentrated in the Tokyo district of Harajuku, where she was born. In addition to producing songs for the technopop girl group Perfume, Yasutaka Nakata, a member of the electronic music duo Capsule, is responsible for the creation of Kyary Pamyu Pamyu. Her first single, “PonPonPon,” debuted in the top 10 of the Japanese charts in 2011 and quickly became recognised as her trademark tune.

Following that came the singles “Candy Candy” and “Fashion Monster.” Since then, she has published three full-length albums: Pamyu Pamyu Revolution (2012), Nanda Collection (2013), and Pika Pika Fantajin (released in July 2014), all of which are based on her songs. Despite the fact that Kyary Pamyu Pamyu has achieved the most of her fame as a recording artist in Asia, she has also acquired recognition in western nations, thanks in part to online videos that have gone viral. Kyary has been referred to as “Harajuku Pop Princess” by many media sources, and she has been shot for publications such as Dazed & Confused magazine. For her work to be released in the United States, Kyary inked a distribution agreement with Sire Records, which began in 2013.
