Julia Mancuso Siblings: Meet Sara Mancuso, April Mancuso
Did you learn to ski like your elder sisters April (a previous NCAA champion) and Julia (who has won three Olympic medals)?
I was a competitive child, but I had to give up skiing when I was 14 due to a serious accident. I was unable to ski for a time, but after I was able to again, I began skiing with my friends and taking rides with the boys to help me descend the mountain. That’s what inspired me to ski more like a big mountain and drop cliffs.
Mancuso, April All-state skier from 1995 to 1998; participant on the high school soccer team that finished second in the state; gold medalist on the track team at North Tahoe High School.
