Eventually, he decided to follow in the footsteps of his father, and in 2012, he became a part of the NFL team, the Jacksonville Jaguars, with his father giving him a spot as a co-owner of the team.

Sports and Other Businesses

The Jacksonville Jaguars are members of the NFL’s American Football Conference South (AFC South) division, joining the league in 1995.

They had a strong start a few years after joining, though they suffered a long drought which was only broken in 2017 when they made their first finals appearance after 10 years of failing to reach them. Tony’s father Shahid bought the team in 2011 from businessman J. Wayne Weaver at a value of $770 million, and has since increased the team’s value to around $1.5 billion. Tony serves as the Senior Vice President of Football Technology & Analytics for the team.

All Elite Wrestling

In 2018, Tony looked into the possibility of creating a professional wrestling promotion, as he has been a lifelong fan of the sport.

After a great showing by several independent stars and former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) talent, he partnered with Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks to help recruit wrestlers and promote an upcoming event, which would become All Elite Wrestling (AEW), founded in 2019. Their roster contains some of the most talented wrestlers from around the world, including names such as Kenny Omega, Jon Moxley and Chris Jericho. The company is known to be the home of many stars from WWE”s past, and is in direct competition with them.

With the creation of the promotion, Tony also helped in landing a deal for a weekly television show “AEW Dynamite”, labeled by the media as the first professional wrestling promotion with serious financial backing to rival WWE. They started the promotion with a pay-per-view event called Double Or Nothing, which set up many of their wrestlers and future storylines.

Father – Shahid Khan

Shahid grew up in Pakistan in a middle-class family who worked in construction. After matriculating from high school, he moved to the US where he studied for an Industrial Engineering degree, while working a part-time job to make ends meet.

His first job was with the Flex-N-Gate Corporation, an automotive manufacturing company which absorbed him as one of their engineers following his graduation. While working there, he opened his first business, Bumper Works, which made customized car bumpers and body repairs for pickup trucks.

The business endeavor was successful, and the money he earned led him to buy Flex-N-Gate, growing it to become a big supplier of bumpers for much larger automobile manufacturers. He partnered with Toyota and expanded Flex-N-Gate, making it one of the strongest manufacturing companies in the US.

With the money he earned from the business, he began looking for further investments, and became interested in buying sports teams, leading to his purchase of the Jacksonville Jaguars after many attempts. He is considered the lead investor among many of his son’s business endeavors, and in 2012 he was featured by “Forbes” as the face of the American Dream, having succeeded in becoming – self-made – one of the richest persons in the world.

Personal Life

Tony Khan is single and he does not talk about any of his romantic endeavors.

He prefers to keep it away from the public, instead focusing on his love for professional wrestling and other sports in his social media accounts. He is close friends with many athletes and legends, making connections while also having enough money to attend high profile events.

While he has been a mostly private man, he’s also engaged in a war of words against other executives and athletes in the past. On one occasion, Tony had an exchange of words with professional wrestler Randy Orton, whom Tony called out for using his promotion’s name to increase the value of his contract in WWE. He also recently had an online exchange with professional American Football player Yannick Ngakoue, due to frustration felt by the player as he hasn’t yet been traded by the Jaguars.
