Jason Pominville started his career with the Quebec Major Hockey League’s Shawinigan Cataractes. He amassed 121 points, and appeared in 66 games for the team. He received the Frank J. Seike Trophy in 2002.

He entered the 2001 NHL Entry Draft and was selected as the second round, 55th overall pick by the Buffalo Sabres. On October 6, 2011, Pominville was named as Sabres’ permanent captain during a match in Helsinki, Finland.  He was traded off to Minnesota Wild in 2014.
