He now plays for St. Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership. James Henry McFadden (born 14 April 1983 in Springburn, Glasgow) is a Scottish footballer who currently plays for the club. McFadden was born and reared in the Glasgow suburb of Springburn. He went to Turnbull High School in Bishopbriggs for his secondary education. McFadden began his professional career at Motherwell. He first gained national attention during the 2002–03 season, when he scored 19 goals and was named the Scottish PFA Young Player of the Year for his efforts. McFadden joined Everton in 2003 for a fee of £1.25 million. Having failed to establish himself in the Everton squad, he left for Birmingham City in January 2008 for a fee of £5 million. Due to a severe injury, McFadden missed the most of the 2010–11 season, and Birmingham City, who were relegated as a result of his absence, opted not to extend his contract with the club. After recovering his health, McFadden signed for Everton on a free transfer in October 2011. He then spent three months with Sunderland in 2012 before returning to Motherwell. McFadden made his international debut for Scotland in 2002. As of October 2011, he has appeared in 48 games for Scotland, scoring 15 goals in the process. His goal for Scotland in the Euro 2008 qualifying match against France on September 12, 2007, at the Parc des Princes, is widely considered as one of the country’s most renowned goals in recent history.
