Konefal left the show a few weeks after Kristian Alfonso, who had portrayed Konefal’s mother, Hope Brady, for 37 years.
TheWrap reached out to NBC representatives for comment on Konefal’s resignation on Friday, but they did not answer immediately.
Along with her, the actor who plays Ben, Robert Scott Wilson, is quitting the show. The actors’ schedules were stated as the cause of the departure.
Days of Our Lives executive producer Ron Carlivati reportedly told Soap Opera Digest that Konefal’s recurring role was essential to the impending plot, according to Soaps in Depth. She was never accessible regularly, and given the structure of our program and the way guests are scheduled, it became increasingly difficult to maintain her in that position. These people must be under contract if you want to use them in a tale.
Wilson’s contract was still in effect, so the writers weren’t sure what to do with Ben and Ciara. “You want Rob to quit the show, but he doesn’t necessarily want to, so you can’t give them a happy ending. It frequently doesn’t work to have half the pair leave.
