PCEA Chogoria Hospital Description
PCEA Chogoria Hospital is situated within the fast growing Chogoria township in Mwimbi Division, Tharaka-Nithi County of Eastern Province. It is about 200km north of Nairobi city along the Embu-Meru highway. The Hospital was established in 1922 by Scottish Missionaries.
The ownership of the Hospital was transferred from the Church of Scotland to the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) in 1956. The Hospital has a 295 bed capacity and focuses on the provision of Curative, Preventive and PromotiveHealth Care services in the greater Meru and as far as Isiolo and Marsabit. Chogoria Hospital also serves as a referral and teaching hospital.

In and Out Patient
Medical outpatient and inpatient services are available throughout the week.
The private ward services are also available.
Surgical Services
The surgical service offers general surgery and orthopaedics.There is a major and minor operating theatre that provides both emergency and elective surgical operations. The Surgical Outpatient clinics is conducted on Mondays and Fridays. We have twin modern operating theatres.
Professional Training
The hospital receives and trains Medical Doctors on internship and Nurses. Students on attachments are also received in the medical field, finance, engineering and IT departments.
Maternity Services
Maternity services include antenatal, postnatal and antenatal hostel. Specialized Obstetric/gnaecology clinics are conducted on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Paediatric
The paediatric ward houses a children’s trauma and burns unit. Specialized clinic is conducted every Wednesday.
Pharmacy
A well stocked pharmacy operating 24 hours. Dispensing a wide range of high quality medicines to both in and outpatients at an affordable cost.
HIV/AIDS Care Programme
Provides comprehensive HIV/Aids care which includes free HIV testing and Ant-Retro-viral therapy. The program has 3 satellite clinics at Kirogine, St Anne Igoji and Kiang’ondu aimed at taking services closer to the Community.
VCT-The clinic is staffed with trained counselors and offers free HIV counseling and testing.
MCH/FP
Provides a comprehensive care to pregnant women, mother, father and the under 5 year old child.

The clinic is run by a team of Medical Personnel, all dedicated in the management of diabetes. Services offered from Monday to Friday.
PCEA Chogoria Hospital Physiotherapy Unit
Caters for people of all ages with physical problems caused by illness, accidents or ageing. They are treated through manual therapy, therapeutic exercise and application of electro physical modalities.
PCEA Chogoria Hospital Eye Clinic
The clinic deals with the assessment and management of conditions pertaining to the eye. The clinic also deals with provision of glasses for the people who have been assessed and a need for them ascertained. The clinic has full time opticians and an ophthalmologist who avails himself every third Wednesday of the month.
PCEA Chogoria Hospital Mental Health Clinic
Therapeutic and counseling services are offered.

A busy clinic operating with a full time Dentist. Offers all forms of Preventive, Curative, Cosmetic and rehabilitative dental services including orthodontic treatment.
PCEA Chogoria Hospital Chest Clinic
Provides free TB medication and TB laboratory tests for both in and outpatients.
PCEA Chogoria Hospital Palliative Care Clinic
The program targets the terminally ill patients. The Care is extended to patient’s homes when the patients do not make it to the facility.
