Mekia Cox is a native of St. Croix, but her family moved to Orlando, Florida. At age 7, she had spent five years of her childhood studying dance in the Virgin Islands.
In 1989, she was invited to participate in Disney’s Magic Kingdom Christmas Spectacular. Her career as a child actor includes appearing in Nickelodeon shows, including Kenan and Kel, My Brother and Me, and All That.[2]
