Bruce Woods Illness and latest health update
At the age of 56, Bruce Woods was diagnosed with Young Onset Alzheimer’s disease. His wife, Lisa Raitt, is currently caring for him.
Bruce had a few golden weeks in the fall, Lisa said, when he seemed relatively calm, went to bed early, and slept well.
Later, he became more aggressive, and he began following the caregivers around the house.
What irritates her the most is that she sees no sign of recognition or gratitude in Bruce’s eyes for what she’s trying to accomplish.
According to reports, he punched Lisa in November, which her two sons confirmed. He allegedly attempted to kick the family dog in order to demonstrate his violence.
He has recently become more violent and agrresive. Bruce was reportedly starting to shove people and had to be restrained.
Bruce has been transferred from a number of hospitals in southern Ontario and is now at Baycrest Hospital’s Behavioural Neurology Unit.
Lisa discussed the importance of long-term care homes for families dealing with violence from sick loved ones in an interview.
