Hema Mullur Wedding
The bride explained how she and her fiancé made the call to postpone: “We knew that we were sort of cutting it close. But on Sunday night, when the Centers for Disease Control came out with its recommendation to not hold gatherings of over 50 people — that’s when we really just knew that it would be best for everybody to postpone.” The couple had expected about 175 people at their wedding, 60-70% of whom would be traveling from out of town.
The wedding vendors “are being super accommodating,” she noted. “All of them, if they are available for the potential dates that we’re looking to reschedule for, they said that they’re good to go for that, and our deposits that we’ve already paid will move forward to that date.”
Mullur, who is an evening news anchor at CBS Austin, noted that she decided to share her story publicly in part to “show people that we’re following the advice that we’re giving people. Being a journalist myself, I’m telling people what the CDC and what the City of Austin are recommending, so it’s on me to also practice what I preach.”
Asked what advice she would give to other brides in her same situation, Mullur reflected, “Just keep a positive attitude. Honestly, at the end of the day, my fiancé and I, we have each other, and we’re just going to take advantage of the quality time that we have to spend together.”
