Gus Dapperton Education
He studied at Drexel University, but took a semester off to go on tour in support of “You Think You’re a Comic!”. He has a style all his own (including turtlenecks, glasses a la Sally Jessy Raphael, pastel hues and one extreme bowl cut) and, at just 20 years of age, he’s pushing the DIY shake scene into odd and magnificent spots.
“Yellow and Such,” his 2017 four-tune EP, wires the laid-back vibes of Mac DeMarco with the splashy scores of ’90s hip-bounce moderate sticks so flawlessly that it’s nearly agitating. What’s more, that is the splendor of Dapperton as a craftsman and a prospering line-obscuring symbol — the majority of his persuasions shouldn’t fit together as impeccably as they do. Yet, they do and he makes it look simple. (Bailey Pennick)
