Frank Crowley was born on May 29th, 1939, in Banteer, Ireland. Frank Crowley was an Irish Fine Gael politician who represented the Cork North-West constituency as a Teachta Dála (TD) from 1981 to 1997.
Frank Crowley died on August 16, 2022.
Crowley ran for election in the Cork Mid constituency for the first time in 1977. However, in Fianna Fáil’s landslide victory, which saw Jack Lynch re-elected as Taoiseach with a 20-seat majority, Fianna Fáil took three of the five seats in Cork Mid, and Crowley was defeated.
He ran again in the 1981 general election and was elected to the 22nd Dáil for the new Cork North-West constituency. He was re-elected in five more general elections before losing his seat in the 1997 election.
He won election to Cork County Council as a councillor for the Kanturk local electoral area in 1991; he was re-elected in 1999 but did not run in the 2004 local elections.
“It was with great sadness that I learned today of the passing of my former Dáil colleague, fellow Fine Gael member, and friend, Frank Crowley,” Cork North West TD Michael Creed said.
“For over 30 years, he was a member of Cork County Council, a TD for 16 years, and a public representative with a cross-party reputation for honesty, integrity, and dedication.”
