A football coach named Ian Nickson secretly filmed young girls changing and washing their clothes.
Ian Nickson had a long history in football, having worked for both Bolton Wanderers and Bury.
However, Manchester Crown Court heard that he used his position as a coach at Walkden Junior Football Club to film two young girls.
A 12-year-old girl noticed his iPhone in a bathroom, propped up by a shampoo bottle and facing her, while she was taking a bath.
After Nickson, 59, was arrested, it was discovered that he had previously filmed the same girl but had gone unnoticed.
Coach: Is Ian Nickson Arrested For Secretly Filmed Two Young Girls?
Ian Nickson had made three sets of recordings, two of which involved the same girl in the bath or shower, and the other set of videos involved a girl changing. Prosecutor David Lees told Manchester Crown Square that Nickson had secretly filmed his first victim twice.
When officers first approached him, he told them there might be a video of the girl on his phone. When officers examined the device, they discovered a video from a different event involving the same girl.
Defending attorney Mark Friend stated that his client appreciated the impact of his crimes and asked for credit for admitting he had taken a second video when interviewed, as police did not find that footage, so that count “comes as a result of his own admission.”
He also called it a “tragedy” that a man’s previously good character would deteriorate after coaching “hundreds and hundreds of children” – a profession he will no longer be able to pursue.
Ian Nickson Mugshot & Facebook Explored
There was no footage recovered from the third incident, which involved the second victim. Nickson initially denied filming his second victim but later told police that he saw the video and “felt ashamed.” Hence, he deleted it before denying having a sexual interest in children.
According to Mr. Lees, the first victim told her mother that she saw a phone as she was about to enter the shower and thought it might be recording her, but her mother assured her that the well-known coach had most likely left his phone in the bathroom.
We couldn’t find him on Facebook.
Ian Nickson Jail Sentence- Is He Locked Up In Jail?
Ian Nickson is locked up in jail. Nickson was also barred from working with children for ten years, ordered to sign the sex offenders register for ten years, required to pay the statutory victim surcharge, and will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order for ten years.
The first victim’s mother stated in a victim impact statement read to the court that she was “devastated and sick.”
She stated that her daughter was “not coping well” with the discovery that Nickson had been videotaping her and had begun to self-harm and feel suicidal.
“This is a heartbreaking situation,” she added before labeling Nickson a “manipulative man” who “preys on young and vulnerable children.”
Nickson had coached a number of clubs over the previous two decades, according to the court.
