Juan Gallardo Thurlow Net Worth: Juan Gallardo Thurlow is a Mexican businessman who has a net worth of $1.3 billion. Juan Gallardo Thurlow acquired a billionaire status in 2013 as a shareholder of 63% stake in Organizacion Cultiba SAB de C.V., a holding company that deals with production of cane sugar and molasses, as well as distribution of soft drinks and bottled water in Mexico. The share price of Organizacion Cultiba has literally doubled in the past five years, i.e., from 2008 to 2013, and they increased the value of Gallardo Thurlow’s stake to $1.3 billion. On the one hand, Cultiba is Mexico’s second-largest beverage producer and distributor of beverages, whereas, on the other, it’s one of the largest private sector producers of sugar in Mexico, with three mills and a 49% interest in a fourth mill. Thanks to the successful integration of the sugar and beverage businesses, Cultiba benefits from a natural hedge against fluctuation in sugar prices. As of January 2013, Cultiba made a secondary offering of nearly 100 million shares, raising almost $200 million. Back in the 1990s, Gallardo Thurlow made a name for himself in Washington, D.C., for playing the role of chief NAFTA negotiator on behalf of Mexico’s business sector.
