In 2008, Acaster started doing stand-up comedy. Alongside Nick Helm and Josh Widdicombe, he appeared in a play at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2009. In 2010 and 2011, he accompanied Milton Jones and Josie Long on tour, respectively.
Acaster made an appearance on Dave’s One Night Stand and Russell Howard’s Good News Extra in 2011. In addition, he presented his debut solo performance, Amongst Other Things, at the Edinburgh Festival.
The following year, the show went on tour in the UK. Acaster made an appearance on the E4 series Show and Tell with Australia Versus and Chris Addison. Also, he co-hosted the radio show My First Gig on Resonance FM.
The Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Awards have nominated Acaster’s Prompt for a best comedy show at the festival in 2012.
