Meet Samuel Koech and Linah Koech

Faith Kipyegon was born to Samuel Koech(father) and Linah Koech(mother). She was the eighth born in a family of nine children. Her elder sister and training partner, Beatrice Mutai, is a 10km and half-marathon specialist. Beatrice won bronze during the African Cross Country Championships in Cameroon.

Samuel Koech Kipyegon, sought help from President Uhuru Kenyatta after his daughter won gold at the 2016 Rio Olympics. The 56-year-old man failed to watch his daughter win the women’s 1500m race since his house was not connected to electricity.

His wish was granted days later after Kenya Power visited his home to connect electricity before receiving several pledges and donations from individuals and companies that followed.
