Nyck de Vries will be allowed to shine this weekend at the French Grand Prix by taking Lewis Hamilton’s place in the first practice session, according to Toto Wolff, team principal of Mercedes.
In 2010, De Vries signed up for McLaren’s young driver program before switching to Mercedes as a reserve driver the following year. The 27-year-old replaced Alex Albon for FP1 at the Spanish Grand Prix, marking his F1 practice debut.
Following De Vries’ performance in Barcelona, Wolff referred to the Dutchman as his “insurance plan” in case Hamilton decided to leave Formula One.
Who Are Nyck de Vries Parents Naomi Hesseling & Hendrik Jan?
Nyck de Vries, age 27, is the son of Hendrik Jan de Vries and was raised by his parents in Uitwellingerga, Netherlands.
Hendrik, Nyck’s father, is most known for being the proprietor of a car dealership. Sadly, there is no information on Nyck’s mother, even though it is said that her name is Naomi Hesseling.
Likewise, if you browse his Instagram profile, you’ll see many pictures of his father shared, but his mother’s identity has never been mentioned in any of the posts.
In addition, Nyck wished his father a happy birthday in a post from 2018 with the sweet remark, “Happy birthday, father!” I appreciate your unwavering love and support: my team, us three from day 1. Win together, lose together. I couldn’t do it without you. I love you.”
The post gives the impression that Nyck and his family have separate lives from his mother. Although the racing driver hasn’t commented on this, it’s only a hunch.
