Elisabeth Kimmel – Bio
The American lawyer and former owner of KFMB-TV was born as Elisabeth Meyer in 1964. She is the daughter of August Meyer Jr. and his wife. Although not much is known about her upbringing and childhood experiences, it is known that she was born into a wealthy American family. She is of white ethnicity while her nationality is American.
Regarding her education, Elisabeth is a graduate of Stanford University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in history. She also earned her JD from Harvard Law School a few years later.
Elisabeth Kimmel began her legal career soon after graduating from law school. Early in her career, she worked for a Los Angeles-based company, Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp. After spending three years there, she joined her family business as general counsel in 1993. Later, she was appointed president of KFMB-TV in 2003 and eventually became its owner in 2007. She has held this position until the business was sold to Tegna Inc. in December 2017.

Elisabeth Kimmel was married to Gregory Kimmel, a lawyer based in San Diego, California. Gregory graduated from the University of South Dakota. He also received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Southern California School of Law in 1990. Gregory has worked extensively at different institutions and was previously a member of the California State Bar. He is currently president of Wireless Telematics.
The couple got hitched several years ago, however, there is not much information regarding their relationship. They have three children, including Katherine and Thomas Kimmel.
His alleged involvement in the college admissions bribery scandal
Earlier in March 2019, US federal authorities launched several scams that allegedly allowed dozens of parents to bribe their children into prestigious colleges. William Rick Singer was one of the culprits apprehended. William alleged that Elisabeth Kimmel paid him $275,000 to enable him to help her daughter gain admission to the prestigious Georgetown University in 2013.
Meanwhile, William has already had cases of facilitating cheating on SAT exams and catching up on college applicants’ athletic qualifications. Despite this, he forged an athletic reputation by stating that Elisabeth’s daughter, Katherine, was an excellent tennis player, although she never really participated in the sport. Katherine played hockey in high school and never played tennis in Georgetown until she graduated in 2017.
While it seemed Katherine ran away with it, history wanted to repeat itself in March 2019, when Elisabeth also paid Singer $250,000 to help her son, Thomas, gain admission to college. University of Southern California.
According to reports, the alleged scandal was uncovered by federal authorities through a wiretapped phone call between Elisabeth, her husband and another person whose identity was not revealed.
