Doug Belgrad is an American film and television producer. He was previously an executive at Sony for nearly 27 years before founding 2.0 Entertainment, a Sony-based film and television production, and co-financing company. He is best known for supervising Sony Pictures films such as Men in Black and Bad Boys.
Belgrad grew up in Highland Park, Illinois. His father owned and operated a furniture manufacturing company founded by his grandfather. He received a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Pennsylvania in 1987. He began his career as a securities analyst at Kidder, Peabody before joining Columbia Pictures in 1989.
His appointment as Sony Pictures Entertainment’s co-president of production in 2008 alongside Matt Tolmach. Belgrad was appointed as the studio’s sole president in 2010 when Tolmach quit the company.
Belgrad contributed to The Karate Kid (2010), the first movie produced wholly on the mainland and the second to be produced by a Hollywood company and a Chinese studio. Belgrad was set to leave Sony and go into a producing role, it was revealed in June 2016.
