Deborah Ann Harry was born Angela Trimble on July 1, 1945. Between 1979 and 1981, four of her songs with the band peaked at No. 1 on the US charts. In 1981, Harry released KooKoo, her first record as a solo artist.
She started an acting career when Blondie was on hiatus, playing the major characters in the neo-noir Union City (1980) and David Cronenberg’s body horror movie Videodrome (1983).
She recorded her second solo album, Rockbird, in 1986 and featured in Hairspray, the iconic dance movie directed by John Waters, in 1988.
