David Irving – Brief Biography

Irving was born in Compton, California on August 18, 1993. Rickey Harris and Kimberly Irving as David JaRodd Irving. He spent his childhood in his hometown before his family moved to San Jacinto, where he attended San Jacinto High School and started playing American football.

In high school, he played both the defensive tackle position as well as the tight end position recording 19 receptions for 298 yards, 76 tackles, five forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, seven sacks, and four touchdowns.

After high school, he accepted a scholarship to Iowa State University, where he played college football, starting out as a defensive tackle before moving into the defensive tackle position in his freshman year. He was fired from the team in 2014 after he was pictured carrying a stop sign and caught on camera helping to pull down a lamppost during a riot that broke out at the school during the VEISHEA festival.

After the photo and video clip emerged, he was charged with fifth-degree robbery, second-degree disorderly conduct and criminal mischief, and a class “D” felony and the day after the riot, Coach Paul Rhoads announced that Irving had been fired from the team for violating the ISU student-athlete code of conduct, so he missed an entire season.

David Irving finished his college career playing just thirty-two games with eight starts, forty-four tackles, three sacks, one forced fumble, one interception, eight assists and three blocked shots.

Professional career

He began his professional career in 2015 by signing with the Kansas City Chiefs as an untraded free agent after the 2015 NFL Draft closed. In September, he was waived and signed with the practice squad. A few weeks later, the Dallas Cowboys signed him to the Chiefs practice squad to replace Davon Coleman, who had been released from the team. He was used as a defensive defensive tackle and before the end of the season he recorded 14 quarterback pressures (6th on the team).

The following season, Irving recorded three forced attempts, recovering one, a sack and an assist in a game against Green Bay Packers, the game ended in a 30-16 victory and David Irving was named defensive player. of the week NFC.

In 2017, he resigned with the Cowboys. That season, he was suspended the first four games for violating the NFL’s drug policy. In a press interview, Irving would later reveal that when he received a letter from the NFL warning him that he had failed a drug test, he was in shock because he was not taking that a substance which, according to all the ingredients listed on the bottle, was supposed to be all natural, but apparently there was a hidden ingredient.

When the suspension expired, he was moved from the defensive end position to the defensive tackle position using three techniques. The same season, he suffered a concussion in the game against the Washington Redskins. The head injury became complicated due to the fact that he continued to play with it. Persistent symptoms later forced the team to declare him inactive for the remainder of the season. He therefore missed the last four games of the season.

The 2018 season also started like the previous one. Following another performance-enhancing drug policy violation, he was banned from playing the first four games of the season. The team also placed him on reserve/didn’t report a roster to start training camp as he deals with his issues off the pitch.
