According to the autopsy report, his corpse was packed in a sleeping bag before being set on fire, resulting in burns to nearly 40% of his body. Numerous knife wounds and slashes were also noted in the autopsy report, which was likely inflicted after his death.

According to court transcripts, Guerrero ran away from home the day before Daniel Halseth’s corpse was discovered, and the youths bought a circular saw, saw blades, bleach, lighter fluid, disposable gloves, and drop cloths from businesses near the victim’s home.
Sierra and Guerrero dated from June to December, but their parents prohibited them from seeing one other after learning of their plans to go to Los Angeles, according to court filings.
