California Derrick Burton Missing Update: Is He Found Yet?

After it was established that the remains discovered in 1991 were indeed his, the Derrick Burton Missing Case gained prominence on a global scale.

The identification of human remains found in Mentone more than 30 years ago as belonging to a missing 4-year-old kid was made public on Thursday by officials.

According to news from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, a quail hunter discovered a human skull on October 27, 1991, in a remote region close to Florida Street and Greenspot Road.

A plastic trash bag that was torn and contained what seemed to be children’s clothing was found after a check of the area resulted in another discovery.

The case became cold when an autopsy revealed the skull belonged to a youngster between the ages of 4 and 8, but no remains could be found then.

California Derrick Burton Missing Case

Clark had reported her son “missing to the San Bernardino Police Department in 1991,” more than three decades prior, but he was never located.

He was four years old and a 1987 baby at the time of his disappearance.

Even after 30 years, it remained unclear whether the skull that had been discovered on the mountainside belonged to Burton or not.

Nobody knows the child’s cause of death, whereabouts, or whodunit. The Burton family never ceased seeking the truth and trying to find a way to bring him to justice.

It was established that Clara’s DNA matched that of the child’s skull.

According to sheriff’s investigators, recent DNA tests have shown that the human remains discovered in San Bernardino County belong to a 4-year-old kid who vanished over 30 years ago.

Derrick Burton, whose bones were discovered on October 27, 1991, close to Florida Street and Greenspot Road in Mentone, was identified as the young child, according to comprehensive DNA testing, which sheriff’s officials reported on Thursday.

The sheriff’s office attempted to identify the victim by sending DNA from the bones to the sequencing and genomics lab Othram Inc. in the fall of 2022.

Oram showed that the remains had distant genetic relations and lived in Houston, Texas, in February 2023.

The sheriff’s investigators contacted the genetic relatives, and permission was obtained to use their DNA for additional testing.

When authorities got in touch with Clark, they discovered that in 1991, she had reported her missing child to the San Bernardino Police Department.

After many years had passed, Clark’s DNA was collected and sent to a lab for analysis. The results showed that Clark was a 100% paternal match to the child’s remains, now known as Burton.

Currently under investigation are homicides, according to sheriff’s officials.

Derrick Burton’s Death Cause

Authorities in Riverside County have verified that the 1991 remains discovered in the Mentone area belong to the missing 4-year-old Derrick Burton.

However, how Derrick Burton died was not confirmed by the authorities. His parents, however, are still searching for justice for their son even though the investigation is still underway.

It took a while to locate the person after a child’s clothing sample and a torn plastic trash bag with a decomposing odor were discovered and stored as evidence. Therefore, people are eager to find out who the offender is.

Although his death’s cause is unknown, we hope the culprit is found quickly.

His family is offered our sincere condolences, and we sincerely hope they can deal with the circumstance.

We pray to God to provide the young soul serenity in paradise so they can rest.
